Hope. Challenge. Change. Telling Stories That Matter.

This Random World & COVID-19

Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed.
- John Lennon

Well, our friends, we recognize that these are some strange days. Days full of uncertainty and even fear. Days of deepening isolation. Maybe even days of anger. We hope that you have support around you.

Artist Community – please know you are not alone. Many of you have lost all forseeable income and have had productions that you have put hours and hours of work into, shut down. Stories that will never be realized. This is heart breaking. Please reach out. We will certainly help in anyway we can.

You have Arts Chaplains and we would love to connect with you.

We have delayed our decision to postpone our final production of the season for as long as we could but it looks like there is just too much uncertainty. We will be moving This Random World into our next season.

If you have already purchased tickets to this show, or are a Season Ticket holder, please contact our Box Office at [email protected] or 403-640-4617.

We are happy to refund you the price of the ticket but ask if you will consider making it a donation instead and we will issue you a tax receipt.

You have been extraordinarily generous with us over the years and hope that, as you are able, you will continue to be.

We still have stories to tell. Stories that matter.

Be well. Be kind. Be hopeful.

Scripts on Fire New Play Competition

Scripts on Fire

Fire Exit Theatre exists to create conversations around faith; what you believe and don’t believe about God and death and life and all that happens in between. We believe that everyone is on a spiritual journey, whether they know it or not. We believe that life is hard and God is good and that choosing to live in that tension creates the best stories.

We want to hear your stories around this theme.

Fire Exit Theatre gets Charity Status!

We are so excited to announce that after 13 years of creating this unique brand of theatre in Calgary – WE ARE A CHARITY!

We have worked hard to tell great stories, to build an environment for artists to create, to encourage conversation and to be sustainable arts organization that will continue to plan & dream.

As we look into the future we dare to dream of things like hosting symposiums on faith and art, or inviting renowned artists and thinkers to Calgary to engage with our audience, or helping our own artists actually make a living as an artist.

We want Fire Exit to be known as the place where you’d want to create, where you can explore your relationship with your God, and where you’re guaranteed to leave the theatre just a little bit different than when you went in.

We cannot do this alone. And furthermore, we don’t want to. We’re so much better together!

So....if you've never made a donation...there's no better time!

Fire Exit Theatre’s home has a new name!

The Epcor Centre for the Arts is now Arts Commons.

Arts CommonsThe arts are more than music, dance, theatre and performance arts. There are continually expanding ways of conceiving, developing, and delivering ideas that create new forms of artistic expression. In this pure, altruistic sense, the arts demonstrate the boundless creativity humans possess and the inventive ways they find to express themselves. We demonstrate our brand promise in our programming, our partnerships, and in our openness to, and serious consideration of, feedback and input from our community.

Arts Commons is an inspirational gathering place for all Calgarians and visitors alike. We are a space, both physical and metaphorical, that stimulates senses, triggers emotions, challenges assumptions, starts conversations, and opens minds.
